How much space do I get?
Users are given an initial 40MB. Users can purchase an unlimited amount of additional space through our Premium Service packages.
How much bandwidth do I get?
The simple answer is, as much as you want! You begin with 500Mb of bandwidth per month. If you cross the 500Mb limit, you can choose to get more bandwidth for free by sponsoring it through advertising, or purchase additional bandwidth through our Premium Services.
Can I use Frontpage with Freewebs? Does Freewebs support Frontpage Extensions?
Freewebs does NOT support Frontpage Extensions. However, you can sign up for our FTP service and publish your website from Frontpage through FTP. To begin, create a free account. Then visit your Premium Services area to sign up for FTP access.
Does Freewebs Support Server-Side Includes (SSI)?
YES! We support Server-Side Includes free of charge.
Can I have a "members only" or "password protected" section of my website that can only be accessed by people who have the password?
YES! Once you create your account, you can sign up for our Password Protection feature.
Can I have my own Top Level Domain (for instance a .com address) if I don't like my Freewebs address (freewebs.com/myname)?
YES! Once you create your free account and login, you can visit your My Domains section and register, set up, transfer or manage as many domain names as you like, including .com, .net, .org, .us, .ws, .info and .biz!
If I already have a domain name like myname.com, can I still host it at Freewebs?
YES! You can direct your domain name to our site. If your current domain name registrar will not point your domain for you, you can transfer your domain to our service and point it to your site for free using our service!
What will be the address of my site?
Your site's address will be: http://www.freewebs.com/yourusername, however, you can register or transfer your own Top Level Domain (for instance yourname.com) and point it to your Freewebs site all from the My Domains area of your account.
How can I cancel my account?
You can remove and delete your account from the My Account section after logging into Freewebs. Accounts with no logins and no hits for 90 days may be removed for inactivity.
What is your refund policy?
For users who choose to sign up for our Premium Services, we offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Any user may request a hassle-free refund within 30 days of purchase of a service. For refund requests, please contact our Billing Department.
Can I hotlink images? Can I put Images or files on my Freewebs account and have them available from other sites?
Yes! You may hotlink pictures that are on your Freewebs account and host your pictures on other sites like Blogger, MySpace, etc. In addition, many of our services, like our ShoutBox include a "Take It With You" feature that allows you to add your Freewebs features to your other websites.
How do I upload files to my web site?
Our Site Manager has made uploading simple. You can even upload an entire site in one zip file and unzip it online into your folder! You can also sign up for FTP access for faster uploading.
How secure are my files?
Security is one of our top priorities and we have never had a problem with people hacking into our servers, however, at this point in time we do not guarantee our server to be secure for such things as credit card transactions, etc.
Can I point my domain name to your IP address and have it point to my Freewebs website?
YES! You can sign up for this service after logging into your Freewebs account.
Can I run ASP scripts? Can I use ColdFusion?
Due to security reasons, we do not allow these types of applications and scripts to be run on our servers. You can, however, link to remote scripts from your website.
What about MySQL, MSACCESS, and PHP?
Unfortunately, Freewebs does not offer these functions.
Can I use CGI and Perl scripts?
We do support these types of scripts. CGI/Perl accounts are available for users and can be accessed by upgrading to Premium Services.
